Many Illinois ATV accidents have occurred. ATVs, which are also commonly referred to as “three-wheelers” and “four-wheelers,” have caused many serious accidents. As seen in various posts on this site under the “ATV Accidents” category, these types of crashes have often caused serious injuries and some have led to the death of the ATV rider or passenger.
A Christmas Day ATV accident in North Barrington has caused injuries to both a man and child passenger.
The ATV accident is discussed in a variety of media sources, including the NBC Chicago article of December 26, 2016, titled “‘Man Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries,’ 7-Year-Old Hurt in Suburban ATV crash.” An excerpt:
A preliminary investigation revealed the ATV, being driven by the 43-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Ravine Lane with a 7-year-old passenger when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a dog, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office. The ATV rolled over with neither passenger wearing helmets.
The man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center [Libertyville] for medical treatment of accident injuries that were considered to be “life-threatening” in nature.
The boy (his son) received medical treatment by paramedics at the accident scene.
Additional details can be seen in the NBC Chicago article mentioned above, as well as the Daily Herald article of December 26 titled “Man and young son hurt in ATV crash in North Barrington.”
