Man Dies Following Work Accident In Lake Zurich, Illinois

Illinois workplace accidents can happen for a variety of reasons.  Common accident causes include lack of supervision; lack of focus on safety; poor employee training; lack of communication; unsafe work conditions; defective equipment; and improper and/or inadequate tools.  Poor management practices and/or attempts to reduce expenses often contribute to accidents.

There are also many other reasons that can play a role in whether an employee is injured or killed while working.  Many fatal workplace accidents appear to be avoidable.

On this site, work accidents that occur in Illinois – many fatal – are discussed in posts found under the “Illinois Workplace Accidents” category.

As with any accident in which someone has been seriously hurt or fatally injured, a qualified personal injury lawyer can determine if there was negligence involved and whether accident injury compensation may be attainable.  Depending upon the specifics of the accident and the associated legal issues, the filing of a personal injury lawsuit may be appropriate.  In the case of a fatal accident, the filing of a wrongful death suit may be warranted.

There was a fatal work accident Wednesday (March 29, 2017) in Lake Zurich.  Details on the fatal accident appear limited at this time.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Police responded to the accident, which occurred at Chicagoland Paving Contractors at 225 Tesler Road, at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates that the accident happened as a 58-year-old man (later identified as Jack Eiler) was fatally struck by a paving truck or paving equipment that he had been working on.  He died at the accident scene.

Trip And Fall Lawsuit Regarding Parking Lot Injury

On this site there have been a number of injuries discussed that have been termed “slip and fall” accidents.  These posts are typically listed in the “slip and fall” category.

These various accidents in which people have fallen and injured themselves have occurred for a number of reasons.  Many such incidents happen when people slip and fall on slippery surfaces, such as on ice, or on liquids on store floors.

Another reason has been improperly maintained sidewalks.  Sidewalks that are crumbling and/or otherwise uneven can cause people to trip and fall.

Many of these accident injuries lead to injury lawsuits.  While there are many reasons why a lawsuit may be filed, typically those who have been injured seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other expenses caused by the accident injuries.

A lawsuit summarized in the Madison Record article of January 30, 2017 (“Customer allegedly lost leg from trip, fall at Jerseyville Hardee’s“) discusses an alleged incident in which a woman tripped and fell in a restaurant parking lot.  An excerpt from the article, referring to plaintiff Margaret Lorsbach, of Jersey County:

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 11, 2015, she was walking from her vehicle to the south entrance of the defendants’ premises when she tripped and fell due to a difference in elevation from a parking lot to a sidewalk. As a result, she alleges she suffered injuries that led to a leg amputation.

Lorsbach alleges the defendants allowed a hazardous condition on the premises and failed to warn about it.

Additional details can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
