Fatal accidents that happen in the workplace, as well as those that occur at construction sites, can happen for various reasons. Some of these reasons include poor training, lack of clear communication, improper safety procedures, and faulty equipment. While some fatal accidents are the fault of the worker, other such fatal accidents are the fault of other parties.
There was a fatal accident at a construction site in Joliet on Friday morning, April 14, 2017.
An excerpt regarding the incident, as seen in the April 15, 2017 The Herald-News article titled “Coroner: Construction worker dies after ‘workplace mishap’ in Joliet“:
Christopher J. Verstraete was pronounced dead at 9:13 a.m. in the Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center emergency room, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary autopsy reports revealed Verstraete suffered an incised wound to the neck.
Verstraete, 33, was a construction worker involved in a “workplace mishap” in the 1100 block of Van Dyke Road, according to the coroner’s office.
