ATV Accident In Assumption, Illinois Causes Severe Injuries

There was an ATV accident in Assumption that injured three boys (in the 7th grade) on Saturday, January 20, 2018.  One boy was seriously injured.  His injuries included traumatic brain injuries including two skull fractures and swelling of the brain.

Central A&M seventh-graders Logan Virden, Tucker Long and Will Thompson were injured on Saturday when they lost control of the four-wheeler on which they were riding, Logan’s mother Joni Virden said. She said Logan was most seriously injured because he landed in a 6-foot creek bottom.

Logan was airlifted to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on Saturday for emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, and he was placed in an induced coma, his mother said. He has two skull fractures, fractures in his sinuses, eye socket and pelvis and two fractured vertebrae, she said.

Illinois ATV Accident Results In One Fatality And One Injured

A fatal ATV accident occurred in Carlinville, Illinois (in Macoupin County) on Wednesday, June 31, 2017.

A 15-year-old boy was killed and his 12-year-old sister injured when the all terrain vehicle they were riding crashed, the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department said.

Investigators with the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an ATV accident Wednesday night around 6:30 p.m. on Kelly Road in Shipman, Illinois. First responders found Adam Heyen and his sister ejected from the ATV. Investigators said it appears Heyen lost control of the ATV and crashed.

Adam Heyen was killed in the accident. His sister was flown to a St. Louis hospital for treatment of her accident injuries.

Fatal Collision Involving ATV And Dirt Bike In DeKalb County

A fatal ATV-dirt bike collision happen Saturday night (February 11, 2017) in DeKalb County.

According to the DeKalb County’s Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Saturday night at 7:37 p.m.  on Cherry Road west of Bucks Road.  At that time, one man on a Honda ATV (with its lights on) collided with another man riding a Yamaha dirt bike, which didn’t have lights on.  The collision was a “head-on” collision.

The man riding the ATV was identified as Dakota M. Sikula, 21, of Hampshire.  The rider of the dirt bike was identified as Douglas W. Wallace Jr., 21, of Kirkland.

The accident led to the death of two men.  Both men died at the accident scene.

This fatal crash is under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office as well as the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.

ATV Accident In North Barrington Injures Man And Boy

A preliminary investigation revealed the ATV, being driven by the 43-year-old man, was traveling northbound on Ravine Lane with a 7-year-old passenger when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a dog, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office. The ATV rolled over with neither passenger wearing helmets.

The man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center [Libertyville] for medical treatment of accident injuries that were considered to be “life-threatening” in nature.

The boy (his son) received medical treatment by paramedics at the accident scene.

ATV Accident Leads To Death Of 11-Year-Old Boy In Williamson County

There was a fatal ATV accident Saturday (October 29, 2016) afternoon in Ziegler, Illinois (Williamson County.)  An 11-year-old boy died from accident injuries shortly after an ATV crash at the Wright Mud Fest.  Details on what caused the crash do not appear to be publicly available at this time.

The accident remains under investigation by the Williamson County Coroner’s Office and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

ATV Crash In Crystal Lake Leads To Death Of Boy

There was a fatal ATV accident Sunday night (May 22, 2016) in Crystal Lake.  Details on the crash – and especially its causes – appear limited at this time.

Crystal Lake first responders – including Crystal Lake Fire Rescue and Crystal Lake Police – were sent to the accident scene at approximately 7:00 p.m.  The accident scene was in the 2400 block of Bryn Mawr Lane.

The accident involved a single ATV that crashed in a field.  The boy died at the accident scene, from apparent multiple injuries.  The boy who died was not identified, nor was his age disclosed.

McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said an autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

ATV Rollover Accident Near Antioch

There was an Illinois ATV accident early Saturday morning (October 24, 2015) near Antioch.

Lake County Sheriff’s Police deputies went to the accident scene at approximately 2:15 a.m., at West Grass Lake Road and Lake Shore Drive.

An excerpt from the Chicago Tribune article of October 25, 2015 titled “Driver critically injured in ATV crash near Antioch“:

According to a statement issued Saturday, a preliminary investigation indicates two ATVs were traveling eastbound on Grass Lake when the 32-year-old driver lost control of his ATV. The ATV rolled, and the driver was ejected.

The 32-year-old driver of the “4-wheeler” was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of his accident injuries.  He was reported to be critically injured.

The accident remains under investigation.

Three Teens Injured In Illinois SUV Accident

There was a Southern Illinois ATV accident Tuesday night (August 4, 2015) in Simpson.

According to authorities, three teenagers were injured after being involved in a crash as they were riding on the ATV.

The three teens were 13, 14, and 15 years old.

The driver of the ATV, a 14-year-old female, suffered a head injury and facial injuries.  The two boys had injuries including broken legs.

Fatal ATV Accident Near Nokomis, Illinois

There was a fatal ATV accident on July 4, 2015 near Nokomis, Illinois.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 6:50 p.m., as a 12-year-old girl was driving an ATV on North 18th Avenue.  Her father was a passenger.

The accident happened after the ATV left the roadway, went into a ditch, and struck a tree, at which point it overturned.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Isabella S. Erickson, 12, of Montgomery, was declared dead by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office after being airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Her father, John A. Erickson, 36, of Montgomery, was also taken to St. John’s Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.
