Pit Bull Attack Involving Two Women In Chicago’s Burnside Neighborhood

When a pit bull attack occurs, there is the possibility of significant harm.  While some of these attacks result in a single dog bite, other attacks lead to substantial injuries.

A pit bull attack can lead to extensive injuries that can be life-threatening in nature.  Some have led to fatalities, such as the South Deering fatal pit bull attack that happened on August 4, 2018.

As seen in various incidents covered by the media, as well as the Illinois dog attacks discussed on this site, dogs that attack people can lead to many types of serious injuries.  While some incidents result in a single dog bite, other attacks cause far greater injuries.   Of note, many of these vicious dog attacks happen without the person attacked provoking the dog.

For serious non-fatal dog attacks, extensive injuries can occur.  Among common injuries is disfigurement.

If extensive injuries occur, medical bills and other costs resulting from these attacks can be substantial.  Given these injuries and the accompanying costs, pain, and other hardships that can result from such attacks, dog attacks victims often seek to file lawsuits as they have a significant need for injury compensation.

There was a pit bull dog attack in Chicago’s Burnside neighborhood (Chicago’s South Side) on Wednesday (August 8, 2018) evening.  The Chicago Sun-Times article of August 9, 2018, titled “2 women attacked by pit bull in Burnside” discusses the incident.  An excerpt:

Two women were attacked by a pit bull Wednesday night in the Burnside neighborhood on the South Side.

The women, ages 67 and 46, were standing in front of their home when they were attacked by the dog at 7:49 p.m. in the 9100 block of South Woodlawn, according to Chicago Police.

A neighbor hit the pit bull with a shovel, which allowed the women to escape.  They were taken to the hospital for treatment of their dog attack injuries.  The injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

Additional details regarding dog attacks can be seen in the sources mentioned above.
